Where to Find Flavor-Packed, Affordable, & Safe Meat

If you live near a farmer’s market or can source from a farmer near you, that’s great! Support your local farmers whenever you can, and talk to them about how they raise their animals. But, it can’t get much simpler than Butcherbox–a company that sources great quality meat from family farms and ships free directly to your doorstep. Oh yeah, and the price breaks down to less than $6 per meal... pause for applause. Keep reading to learn more, or jump right to their website here!

Our beef is 100% grass fed and grass finished, our chicken is free range organic, and our pork is heritage breed. All of our animals are humanely raised and free of antibiotics and hormones.

Why Grass Fed & Grass Finished Beef

You may have heard that 'grass-fed' is significant, but unfortunately that alone doesn't guarantee that the animal eats grass its whole life. Often, a grass-fed animal will be started on grass but then finished on grain, soy, corn, and factory farm by-products, yet "grass fed" will be on the label. That's why "grass finished" is significant, and why Butcherbox sources meat this way. When an animal is grass fed and grass finished, they've only consumed their mother's milk and grass their whole life. Why does this matter? Cows are meant to eat grass and graze outdoors; when they don't, they get sick, so factory farms routinely give hormones and antibiotics to animals as a preventative measure.

You start giving them antibiotics, because as soon as you give them corn, you've disturbed their digestion, and they're apt to get sick, so you then have to give them drugs. That's how you get in this whole cycle of drugs and meat.

No Antibiotics or Hormones

Stock up on meat you can feel good about. If you have a compromised immune system, you have to be mindful of what you put in your body. Ingesting animals treated with hormones and antibiotics means that the hormones and drug-resistant bacteria can end up in your body. You don't want to be ingesting these bioaccumulated toxins, especially if you have an autoimmune disease. Butcherbox never sources meat containing antibiotics or hormones.

From the Butcherbox Website:

Less than $6 per Meal

Each box contains about 8-11 lbs of meat (depending on what you order), so that's 18 to 25 servings at a 6 to 8 oz portion size. The box starts at $129 per month, which works out to less than $6 per meal! Choose to receive monthly, or even every two or three months if you don't need as much. Free shipping as well!

Convenient as Heck

It doesn't get much easier than shipping to your doorstep.

The box is packed with dry ice so you don't have to be there for the delivery. It'll take up to 12 hours to thaw, so that allows you some flexibility. Handle the dry ice with care, and let it evaporate in a well-ventilated area (don't throw it in your sink...). The packaging is eco-friendly as well, so, yay earth!

A Mission-Driven Company

Butcherbox founder Mike Salguero started this company to help make quality meat more accessible. When he was first introduced to grass-fed beef through a local farmer, he thought, "why isn't everyone eating this?" We agree! There's plenty more info on the website if you're curious.

As a father of three, I want to provide my family with the highest quality and healthiest meat possible. After years of researching suppliers and sampling products, I have finally found a collection of producers I can trust and I want to bring this to you. Our producers include family run farms and cooperatives who hold quality and animal welfare as core values. I feed my family from the same ButcherBox cuts as we send you to feed your family.
